You can go to start button search for control panel, click it and look for user accounts. In there you will see the change password button, click it and you can now change your current password to your new password so that your ex boyfriend cannot anymore access your computer.

The first thing you'll need to do is go to start, you'll then choose settings and click on control panel. Then double click passwords and click on change windows password, then ok. You'll have to enter the old password, then new password and confirm password.

Even if you did change the password, your girlfriend can create another account name without a password and have access to all your files. This is why people want to upgrade their systems to more recent operating systems so that way their security can't be as easily bypassed like this.

This does not apply if there is a login screen on computer startup. That's a whole different security issue.  add a comment

Go into your settings which you can usually find on the start menu On some computers, this is called the control panel on some models. There should be a section labeled 'account management'. Click it and look under the advanced tab. The option to change your password should be there.

If you are wanting to reset the password you may have to do a complete system restore. If you do this then your computer will start over and will have no passwords.
