How do you remove charcoal lighter fluid from carpet?

My husband spilled a good big of Charcoal lighter fluid on my family room carpet and I would really like to get it up safely.

I would suggest just using a damp warm rag and matting it putting pressure on the area then repeating the process a few times. There should not be to much alarm however as something i know as an installer is that Charcoal lighter fluid is used as a stain,glue,etc.. remover by many installers.

Lighter fluid evaporates very quickly and can be cleaned as you would normally clean carpet. The area should be well extracted to eliminate any residual odors.

Use Stain remover and water to remove it. Don't use a carpet cleaner because it could spark just a little and light the fluid on fire even though it's dry. Just put some stain remover on the stain then get a wet rag or scrubber and start scrubbing the stain.

Immediately blot up all the liquid that you can, using lots of paper towels, until you have blotted it almost dry. Then use a liquid stain remover made for carpet on the spot. Then soak with a sponge and then dry with paper towels until the surface is nearly dry. If this doesn't work completely the first time, repeat.
