The best thing to use is a padded dressing often only found in hospital, like Allevyn. Otherwise, use a gauze padding with tape or plastic covering.

A bandage will help keep it clean along with trying not to bend it too much if you're able to control that.

Elbow scratches shirt first be cleaned with either hydrogen peroxide, an antiseptic solution or cream, or soap and water if none of the others are available. It should then be bandaged for at least twelve hours to prevent bacteria from coming into contact with the wound. After this amount of time, a protective scab should form.

You can protect an elbow scratch by placing an ACE bandage over it or a square bandage. Also apply neosporin, and aloe vera every 12 hours to keep it clean and heal faster. It will give you a less chance of developing an infection in the area of the wound.

After you wash it, put some neosporin, alcohol, or ointment on the scratch. Then wrap it or cover it with a band-aid or ACE bandage depending on the size of the cut to prevent infections and to allow the wound to heal without access to open air or dirt. Change the bandage a couple times a day to ensure cleanliness.
