How do you prepare a mouth guard in boiling water?

I'm not sure if you just drop it into boiling water, or put it in cold water and bring it to a boil or how long to leave it in there.

Clean the mouth guard well. Be cautious of the time you put it in the hot water, doesn't have to be boiling. Most mouth guards need 1 min to soften.

Just drop the mouth guard in boiling water for about 30 seconds or until the guard is soft enough to mold. Then remove the mouth guard and bite into it. After biting, let the mouth guard cool and the mold should remain stable. If not, repeat the process.

I find as soon as I take it out of the boiled water, it is hard and I have to put it back in. Honestly, the thing is a bit of chore to prepare so I don't use it as often as I should.  add a comment

Mouth guards are typically made of durably latex. You can drop them into the boiling water. The best method would be to boil some water in a pan, use a pair of cooking tongs and dip it in the water or 30 seconds. It might melt to the bottom if it sits there too long.

Boil 1 cup of water pouring it in a bowl deep enough for mouth guard to submerge under. use a string to grip the guard, dipping into hot water 30s then take it out to dip in a cup of cool water for 5 or 10s then mold in mouth.
