When you click on the "Header" option, you will be under the "Design" tab. Click on the "Home" tab, highlight your page number, and click center.

Well if you want to position the page numbers, then simply go to header on the microsoft word application. Then click format and properties, you can choose where you would like the page numbers to go. They can go up down or right. You can also move them manually by selecting the page number and pressing tab.

If you are using Microsoft Office Word 2007 or 2010, Click Insert tab, under Headers & Footers group locate "page number" control button. Click it and choose either "Top of the Page" or "Bottom of the Page". For 2003, Click Insert menu, Page Number...

If you are using Microsoft Word; Click the View Menu than "Header and Footer". This wil bring you to the header section of your document. Then click the Insert Menu and choose "Page Numbers". A window will open and choose "Center" alignment and click OK. The page number should be in the header now.
