How do you make your own dining chair covers?

I would like to sew my own dining chair covers and have no idea where to begin.

Well just imagine this! Dining chair covers are kind of like pillowcases. So you could essentially just buy a pillowcase of your choice, decorate it, and put it over your dining chair. If not, then you just follow the pillow case pattern. What you need to do is make a rectangle large enough. Then attach ribbons and voila!

There are pre-made sewing patterns available that can be used, or you can use paper and trace the exact surfaces of the chair to be covered. Use these templates to determine the amount of fabric needed. Add 1/2" seam allowance and cut out the fabric. Before sewing, lay out the fabric on the chair and pin. Then sew edges together.

After measuring the surface area of the seat and adding an inch on each side for the seam allowance, you are ready to fold the sides in on your favorite fabric and stitch up each side. Add skinny strips of fabric to each corner to tie around each leg.

Look for patterns that fit your chairs. If none exist, select an upholstery or home-decor weight fabric and pin the fabric inside-out over your chairs. Sew seams, turn right-side out.
