Catfish are bottom feeders. Attach the hook to the line and weight the line down about 8 inches from the hook and let lie overnight, you'll get catfish.

You will need heavy duty line, cement filled coffee cans, brads, swivels, and hooks. Tie little lines with hooks on the heavy duty line. Space weights and set your line.

Place your trotline in the selected area and tie off both ends. Leave enough slack in the line to get it down to the bottom ,make sure you have both ends tied well. If you set a line out and decide to leave it in the water, don't plan on checking it within twelve hours, pull your bait off the hooks.
