If you have basic DIY skills, you can lay laminate flooring. Purchase the flooring a few days in advance and let it sit in area you intend to lay it. You can lay it as a floating floor over a soundproof membrane, or you can nail it to a subfloor or glue it to concrete.

Make sure floors are clean and dry. Lay underlayment down on floor. The laminate flooring pieces slide one into the other, interlocking. If the interlocking is not properly done, the laminate will not stay together or lay flat. Small nails are used to secure the laminate to the floor, and there is a strip on each piece for the nails.
