There are a couple of different tactics you can try. If you know of anyone else who works in a similar field, ask them if they've heard anything about vacancies at your target company. Also, keep an eye out for articles in your local paper--perhaps the company is talking about growing its workforce. Finally, call the company and ask!

The two best methods for finding open positions at a specific companies involve checking on the company's website or calling the company directly. Many companies will list open positions in an effort to fill them but most will discuss their hiring practices if you speak with their HR department.

Go into the place you're interested in and ask the manager if there are any open positions. Also talk to friends or relatives who work at this place.

If there is a specific place where you really want to get a job, the best way to find out if they are hiring is to call and ask. If you do not want to call, you may write an email, letter, or check online if they have a website. However, the most personal way is the call.
