The best thing to do when installing a circuit breaker is to make sure everything is going to be wired the way you want to put it in. Also you may have to modify the wires to be able to work with a circuit breaker because the old style just plug in.

First, disconnect power from the breaker box by turning the main breaker off. Then, remove the cover panel from the box. Depending upon manufacturer's instruction, attach the breaker to the breaker box. Connect wiring from desired circuit to the breaker. Replace the cover and turn the main breaker back on.

When it is off tip the end of the breaker's notch slides into the metal tab then align the breaker with the bus bar and push it down.
