How do you go about trimming lower branches of an old pine tree?

I have several old pine trees in my yard that need to be trimmed and have no idea how to trim them.

In my opinion, you should have the right tools before you trim the old pine tree branches. 1st you should have a saw or anything that can cut those old dirty branches. Also a ladder for you to reach the high branches. Ask someone to help you in trimming those branches to help you work fast.

Buy a pole saw at your local hardware store, I'm sure Walmart, or a similar store, would have them. Saw the dead limbs off as close to the trunk as possible, but not cutting into the trunk itself as this may lead to unsightly scarring.

You can trim them by using sharp scissors. Be very careful you don't want to hurt yourself. It is hard to snip them off so you need a lot of force.

When we trim ours we take and cut the lower limbs because they usually drag and wherever you prune the trees always be sure and carry something with you even if its a can of tar and verywhere you make a cut as soon as you are done cutting take the tar and paint it over the entire surface.

Well basically you need to get some garden scissors that are large. Then you want to cut off the branches of the pine tree. You basically trim near the root to prevent further damage. You need to have a lot of strength to do this. If you don't have it, ask a male to help.

Just take something and trim the branches off that need to come off then make sure that where evr you made a cut on the tree you paint it with liquid tar so the tree doesn't bleed.

When trimming off a branch next to the trunk make a cut underneath first then cut the branch off from above and this will prevent tearing and unwanted damage.
