A good way to kill grub worms without using chemicals is by using Nematodes. Grub worms turn into May or June beetles.

Grub worms are the larvae of beetles. Once the worms have been detected, apply an insecticide to your lawn in late summer /early fall or use the following natural treatments, available from garden stores: nematodes, milky spore or neem oil. Remember, if your soil is healthy, the grubs will probably be eaten by natural predators anyway.

While grub worms eat the roots of grass and plants underneath the soil, they eat the above ground goodies when they turn into Japanese beetles. Parasites that eat the grubs can be applied to your lawn. Fruit and sugar water in a lidless milk jug will trap the adults. Insecticides are effective, but kill only the present generation.
