How do you deal with the grief from a recent death?

I can't seem to think of anything else.

Be gentle with yourself. Try not to abuse alcohol or other stimulants, and go for exercise. Things will get better over time.

You must be extra kind to yourself, let yourself cry, get extra sleep, eat comfort foods. If you were really close to this person, it takes two years to really heal well -- and the emptiness always remains because the love always remains. Take care, I am thinking of you.

Join support groups. Online ones work ok if you are good on a computer but sometimes it's better to meet with people who are grieving as well so check with your local chuch to see if they have any grieving support groups.

Its okay to think about it. Allow yourself to cry, get angry, write about the lost in your life and how you feel about loosing that person. How you feel now that they are gone. Allow yourself to feel the pain, the anguish, allow yourself to feel sadness and depression.
