Don't guess on this one. The shoes has to fit properly and leaves room fo the toddler to grow into. Take them to the shoe store to get a fitting.

For his first pair of shoes I would get him a quality pair of shoes. They do have childrens shoe stores where an experienced person measures the feet.

To choose shoes for a toddler measure their foot. Then you have them try them on, tap their toes to the ground and place your fingers between their heel and the back of the shoe. If the space is adequate, but not too big, then it is a proper fit.

To buy shoes for a toddler its best to always have them with you so you make sure the shoes fit properly. as well as make sure they are light wieght so that the toddler can walk and run in them without causing them harm or difficulty doing the activity. you can also have store associates help in measuring feet.

There are specialty stores for childrens shoes. Go to one of these shops and have an employee measure your childs feet to get the correct size. After you know what size you need have your child put on a pair or two and watch them walk around a little. If they walk comfortably you have your shoe.

I would go into a shoe specialty store to get the right shoe and fit! There is nothing worse than a shoe that doesnt fit well! I would recommend some Columbia or North Face shoes!

The best thing you can do is take the toddler in a store with you ad try on different pairs of shoes. There really is no better way.

I have learned that you want to find a shoe with a flexible sole, but also one that is thick enough to withstand a lot of use. Buy it 1/2 a size big, and let the child grow into it. Go to a real shoe shop, where they measure the child's foot to get an exact size, don't guess it.
