You just have to sand it down by applying a little bit of surface adhesive and applying a light pressure. This will make it smooth.

You can cross sand it. Your local pro shop can do this for you. I use to take a green scotch brite pad and rubbing alcohol and clean the surface of the ball. This removed access oil build up from the lanes.

You can put a polish on the bowling ball that will make the ball feel very smooth. This polish fills in the cracks and changes the friction between the ball and the alley, changing the way the ball spins.

The easiest way of changing the surface of the bowling ball is to use a ball spinner. Turn your ball in your spinner with sanding. If we want a lesser smooth surface we can use a lesser grit abralon pad.

You could bang the bowling ball on the floor to change the texture, or you could take it to a finisher to change the color or design.

You can try polishing or sanding the surface of your bowling ball. There are refinishing machines machines for this. Check with your local bowling alley.
