How do you catch Mew in Pokemon FireRed?

Mew is actually not obtainable in the game Pokemon FireRed. Unlike the original Pokemon Red, the developers of the more recent FireRed have removed the glitches and oversights that unofficially allowed the player to catch Mew. The only way to officially get a Mew in FireRed is to trade it from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or get it from an official Nintendo event.

Catch mewtwo. Beat the elite four. Then go to Cerulean City. Then go into cerulean Cave. After making ur way around in the middle of that floor mewtwo will be there. catch or defeat mewtwo. Leave. Defeat 30 people using the VS Seeker. Go back to Cerulean Cave. In the same place that you found mewtwo you will find mew.

You cannot obtain Mew in Pokemon FireRed without using some sort of cheating device such as ActionReplay. The only time Mew has been available in the past few years has been through events held by Nintendo. There is no other way to legitimately obtain a Mew in the recent Pokemon games.

They gave one at a Toys R Us event awhile ago. But you can trade with a friend that has it or trade over ebay or something.

This is available only through distribution at a special event, not from regular gameplay. Acquire in any GBA-series Pokemon games and transfer through Pal Park.

You could of gotten Mew at the Toys R Us event that happened a couple of years ago. There is no way to get it now unless you hack the game which I don't recommend. However some people on Ebay are willing to sell them by trading it over to your games.
