How do you care for wild ducklings?

I have a pound on my property that is the home of several wild ducklings.

If they are still with their mother, you don't do anything. Many states have laws prohibiting unlicensed humans from interfering with wild life. If they are still very young and the mother is missing for more than a day, then you should call your local wildlife rescue for advice. They'll know the laws and the best way to help.

If your ducklings are not orphans or in need, you should not provide care. Ducks will really take advantage of that, and lose their natural survival feeding patterns. You can consult your Agway and provide a feed based on their needs, but the best recommendation is to observe them and make sure you are not interfering with them.

Wild animals are almost always better off when left alone There should be a contact through your local vet to a wildlife specialist who will be able to give you the laws relating to care of ducklings in your area.
