How do you care for molting hermit crabs?

Besides providing shells for your hermit crab, you will also need to clean it's living area around every two weeks and provide it fresh water in a small dish or shell daily. Keep its living container in a room temperature area with an average amount of humidity. You will also need to mist it daily as it could dry out.

Aside from bigger shells, remember that your crab will be going through many changes while molting. Place his container home in a quiet or peaceful room in your house if possible. Other than that molting is a very natural process that takes place in nature by itself, so let the crab do the work!

It seems like providing bigger shells should be enough. They can manage the transition quite well in nature without us. Just keep doing what you do when they're happy and healthy and let them get on with it. You might draw pictures or write a story about the changes, so you'll remember for the next time.
