Wrap a wire around a steel or iron nail and connect either end to a battery. Alternatively, include a resistor or a potentiometer in series to your coiled nail. A nail isn't necessary, any ferrous material will do.

Find a general piece of iron bar. Apply an AC current to it long enough for the piece of iron to pick up a magnetic charge. This can be done by having metal shavings nearby, which you can use to test whether the metal has picked up the charge when it can pick up the shavings.

Take a iron nail and multiturn wire of 30 cms length. Wound the wire on nail. If number of turns are more the magnetism will be stronger. Solder one end of the wire to battery 1. 5v. The othe end of the wire a jem clip is used to have contact. Give supply the nail will attract a stapler pin.
