How do you adjust the valves on a Briggs and Stratton engine?

There should be a screw with a spring on the barrel of the carburetor that adjusts the air fuel mixture. I think that you turn the screw clockwise all the way and then turn the screw counterclockwise about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns. Adjust until it runs well but be sure to check the manual.

Locate the major valves on your Briggs and Stratton engine. If you can't find them easily you might want to consult your user manual for the schematic. The valves are protected by rubber guards that can be twisted off by hand. Make sure you disable the engine before performing any hood-work. You can then twist the valves to any pressure-level.
