How do treat an infant with a cold?

I know that several years ago they stopped making cold medicine for infants but what do we do if they get one.

Make sure you have a cool-mist humidifier you can run in the infant's room. To keep the baby's nose clear use a bulb to clear out mucus periodically. You can use a little saline or warm water or steam from the shower before bulbing. Elevate the mattress in the crib by folding a towel under one end.

Take your baby to the doctor. Your doctor will give you the proper medication for your child that is both safe and effective. For the runny nose aspect you can use an aspirator for the nose.

My baby's pediatrician once advised that if my baby caught colds I should make sure he is hydrated, meaning you should let him drink water more often, but not too much.

They have cold medicines for very, very young children, and there is an excellent children's Tylenol which, if you ask your doctor, can be given in small doses to infants in order to combat fever and pain. It's very effective, and can also help with recovery. Also give liquids and vitamins.
