How do I raise a table?

My dinning room table is too low, I would like to raise it so that it is easier for my husband who is over 6'2 to sit at it comfortably.

Many people would try to lengthen the legs, however this is not a good idea. The best way to go about it would be to salvage the table top and either replace with entirely new legs or new base, depending on that type of table it is. A professional carpenter should be able to help you out.

Well, the cheapest way to do is to get some quarter hardcover books and stack them under the legs. Either that or pay someone to replace the legs.

You can actually buy risers that are made for a bed to raise it. The risers come in a package of four and are quite reasonable in price. Perhaps you could use an oversized tablecloth to cover the risers.

Take the table top apart from the legs, cut a 2" X 6" board. Glue or screw the 2x6 to the bottom of the table top. Install the legs to the 2X6.
