Add half a cup of vinegar instead of fabric conditioner to your wash. White vinegar is best, but malt will do. Don't use balsamic!

Get a big container and put 1 cup of baking soda, 1 cup of water, 6 cups of distilled white vinegar and mix until it starts to fizz. Slowly put 6 more cups of water and some essential oil of your choice.

White vinegar is a simple, inexpensive and natural fabric softener. About a quarter of a cup for a medium to large sized load of laundry is enough.

Add baking soda to the wash water and vinegar to the rinse water, the chemical reaction will soften clothes. If you prefer you can mix the baking soda and vinegar in an open container and add a few drops of scent. When the gas has escaped, bottle and use.

Well you can wash it with fabric softener to make it softer. There are probably things you can do like tumble it with hard objects in a dryer.
