How do I know if my Congo Grey is ready to lay eggs?

She doesn't have a mate, so there will be no babies. But I'm not sure how to tell if she's about to lay eggs.

Many times a females behavior will change, such as grooming more often or being more vocal when she is about to lay an egg. It is possible for the Congo Grey to lay eggs without a male but they will not hatch without the presence of a male to fertilize the egg.

She will be gathering feathers and wood chips etc. for an area in preparation. She will also be very protective of that area should there be other birds in the cage with her. Another sign will be that she will not have any interaction with other birds during that period.

She may be ready if she is listless or doing nesting behaviors such as gathering odd material in a safe part of her environment. Any sort of attitude or changes in her habits could me readiness or nearness of egg laying. Just keep a close eye on her and supply nesting material as some birds need it to lay.
