How do I interpret my thyroid uptake scan results?

I don't know what the results mean.

Your test results will include a "normal range" reading next to your result. You will probably see a TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) reading at the top of your result page. The normal range of TSH is 0.3 to 3. If your number is below normal, you may have hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). If above, you may have hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).

The best explanation of your thyroid uptake scan results will come from your doctor. A lot of the information gathered during the scan requires interpretation by a skilled professional. While it certainly is your right to have a copy of the results, the information is likely beyond the scope of your reference to understand them. Speak to your doctor.
