Walnut window trim is first cut in 45 degree angle using a miter saw. The inside or the shortest side of the trim is measured. Top piece and then the one side piece is installed. The remaining pieces are placed on top leaving the bottom free. Finally the bottom pieces are installed and remaining pieces are moved in to place.

Use a miter saw to cut the trim to 45 degree angles. Always measure for the inside or shortest side of the trim. Install the top piece first, then install one side piece. Tack the remaining piece in place only at the top, leaving the bottom free to move. Install the bottom piece and move the remaining piece into place.

Fist you must remove the old trim. Next, cut the desired length of walnut trim with a miter saw at a 45 degree angle (always measure the shortest side). Install the top piece, then a side piece. Tack the remaining piece in place. Finish with the bottom piece.

You will need to remove the old trim and place the new walnut trim but putting a fishing nail around the bottom of the trim in order to secure the trim.
