If your monitor has outputs for the speakers, commonly an SPDIF output would be available, simply hook a wire from the speakers to the flat screen monitors. You could also route the sound directly from the tower's output.

For a computer the speakers need to be plugged into the back of your PC. The type of outputs will vary from RCA, 3.5mm stereo outputs, or digital outputs such as optical or coaxial. Look at the back of your PC, as well as your speakers to determine which outputs you have on both, and use the appropriate cable.

Your monitor won't be able to hook up speakers unfortunately. Monitors are not designed with an audio output. You will need to run the external speakers through your tower.

You connect the external speakers to the computer or whatever product is using the monitor as a video source. If you're talking about a television you have to have a different audio box and speakers that are meant for televisions.

I just did this. There's a wire [mine was green] that runs from [and is plugged into each] the monitor to the tower. Just unplug it from the tower. Plug in your speaker connection to the tower. Windows should pick the added hardware up automatically.

Well you can't connect them to the monitor. You can connect them to the processor and then take the speakers and attach to the brackets of the screen.

On the back of the monitor there are colored holes to insert speaker cables. The cables on the speaker that are colored should match the cable holes on the monitor.

Speakers will have a mini RCA type plug, much like a walkman for analog sound. Your computer will need to have an analog sound output jack or sound card.
