How do I go about troubleshooting a heating fan?

Heating fans have safety controls hooked up to them. If the furnace does not fire up soon enough it can shut the unit down. When you look at the fan make sure the door switch is taped down so it doesn't break off the circuit. Check the pressure switch and make sure all wires are connected properly.

Check if the heating coil is broken using a continuity tester, then check the switch for continuity and finally clean the contacts in the switch to make sure the dirt accumulated does not interfere with the flow of current in the switch. Check the motor if its blown up and if its going to blow enough air.
