One way to get rid of roaches without fumes or chemicals is borax and sugar in equal parts throughout the house. Sugar attracts them while the borax damages their bodies.
Take 50/50 mixture of baking soda and granulated sugar. Place this in the paths of where the coachroaches travel. It takes about two weeks to see the pests disapear. Might have to repeat in a few months.
