How do I get rid of recurring rough, dry, itchy skin?

Is this a symptom of something more serious?

Well, the first thing is to make sure you're getting enough hydration, since that can cause rough, dry skin. If hydration and allergies are not to blame, try a lotion or cream that contains alpha hydroxy like Eucerin that will moisturize and smooth the skin. If after a week or so it doesn't get better, consult a dermatologist.

This could be a problem of having Eczema. If this is the case you may need to get some cream to help reduce the issue. Use lotion reguraly.

You would probably have to have other accompanying symptoms to diagnose a more serious condition than dry, itchy skin. The best recommendation I can give you is to moisturize daily.

You will probably never get rid of it, some people have drier skin then others. You need to make sure you moisture daily with a good moisturizer. A daily supplement of vitamin E is helpful however it is also a natural blood thinner and should not be taken shortly before a planned surgery.
