There can be multiple reasons for this, first thing to check would be your spark plugs and wire also check the ignition system which might be dead even the oil can be dirty which can be cleaned by changing it. If nothing helps then get it to some mechanic who might suggest an overhaul.

Try checking to see if the plugs and wires are good. Often oil other fluids can dirty a spark plug and prevent it from firing. Also make sure the oil is clean by changing it. Try to avoid a costly cylinder repair, which may include rebuilding the engine by checking the simple stuff first.

Could be a number of things. More than likely it's a spark plug thats gone bad or the wire itself. Better off just trying a good ole tuneup.

Check the ignition system first. Make sure the cylinder is getting spark from the coil, make sure the plug wire isn't damage, and replace the spark plug itself. If that fails to fix the problem then do a compression test on the bad cylinder.

Well typically when the is one cylinder that is not firing or "dead" the it is usually due to an ignition issue. Either the ignition coil for that cylinder is bad, the plug is bad, or the injector might not be firing.

start with figuring out whether its the plug or the plug wire, remove the wire and spark plug and replace them both, if no change check the coil next...

start with replacing the spark plug wire, if still not firing replace the spark plug its self, if still not working replace the coil pack or distrubitor cap that should fix the problem

You will need to determine the source of problem first.Ignition fire, fuel or mechanical.Probably a good starting point would be to purchase a ignition spark checker, sold at most auto part stall this on the dead cylinder at spark plug,if its flashing, you have a fuel or mechanical problem,if not flashing remove plug wire at coil tower and watch for spark(none=replace coil pack).

First change the spark plug - you will need a deep socket that fits your spark plugs, a ratchet tool that fits the deep socket, a new spark plug and new spark plug wire. Remove the spark plug wire of the offending cylinder, remove the old spark plug with ratchet, put new spark plug in with ratchet, connect new wire.

In a Ford Windstar, assuming that you've checked the plug leads, this is generally caused by a blown head gasket. It's a common issue on the 3.8L motor used.
