How do I fix a multiple cylinder misfire on my car?

Depending on how old your car is, this is probably a result of timing. You can start with a general tune up -- replace condensor cap, spark plugs, etc. You may need to have the timing checked out and see if it's right, if not, adjust it.

The first thing to do is to figure out what part of the ignition system is failing. Check the error codes to find out what exactly is causing the misfire. Also make sure the plugs are on the correct cylinder. Then work your way through the system testing each component as you go.

If the car is missing on multiple cylinders you may have a severely worn ignition rotor. Pull the cap off and see if you can find signs of arcing.

You could try rotating the valves. Open the car up nice and wide as to expose the engine. Rip out the upper intake manifold, and then rip out the cylinder head covers. Rip out rocker arm and shaft assembly. Rip out the spark plugs. Now, rotate that crankshaft clockwise until first piston is at the top dead center position.

This is what you need to do,change the plug wires,because if there is a bad wire you will definitely experiences sputter or a stutter.

If one of your cylinders is misfiring it will affect the other cylinders and cause them to misfire also. A bad plug or plug wire will cause the same issues. Begin by checking your plugs and see if they are causing the problem. Your head gasket could be bad which also effects your vehicle by causing it to misfire.
