There are many hobby and sports shops like in malls that either have someone on staff to authenticate and tell you your sports cards are worth or can recommend someone.

You need to check some guidelines on the internet, from there you can use the usual card condition guidelines for you to lower the price, consulting other fellow card collector and visiting cards shop is also a big help for references.

There are a wide range of websites that have baseball price guides and pricing tools on them and there is also always the option of picking up a blue book or paperback price guide from your library or local bookstore.

There is a monthly baseball card magazine called Beckett that lists the year, maker, and card number and then the related value of the card - a low and high price. You could buy that magazine or visit a bookstore and be able to find the "market" value of the card. Otherwise eBay would work with pricing.
