Most canine temperatures are took in the rectum. You will have to insert a thermometer in the dog's rectum. You will probably need a second person to help hold the dog still. If you use a regular thermometer take it for 2 minutes, if using digital, wait for the beep.

You would first need to get a rectal thermometer. You need to get some type of gel like petroleum Jelly and smear it on the tip of the thermometer. Then you firmly push only the tip into the dogs rear end leave there for about 10 minutes.

The best way to check your dog's temperature is to insert the thermometer into the anus. Whether the dog is pregnant or not, that is the only way to do it. Most thermometers cannot be read rectally, so be sure to read the instructions on the box.
