Connect the two batteries in parallel (positive touching positive and negative touching negative), and then connect this to a charger (slightly > 12V) with positive connected to +ve of batter.

It depends on how they are "tied together. " If in series, seperate them and charge them seperately. If in parallel, then charge at the 12V level with the combined amperage.

12 X 2 = 24volt you have to have charger for 24volt then only it is possible otherwise you will lose your charger. For example if you have capacity to carry 10kg and you carry around 50kg what will happen so this are same thing. You have to find capable charger to charge two 12 volt batteries.

connect a wire from one battery;s positive to the other's positive. Connect another wirre from one battery's negative to the other's negative. Then connect your 12 volt charger as if there was only one battery. Charging will take longer.  add a comment

You need to untie them so they can get to their credit card.

If the batteries are hooked up in parallel, positive to positive and negative to negative, then hook up your battery charger to one of the batteries as normal and charge. If they are in series, one of the positives hooked to one of the negative terminals, take them apart and charge separately.
