How do I adjust ignition timing on my car?

I have a Land Rover Discovery.

If you have no distributor you cant. But if you do then you need a repair manual, a timing light and some time on your hands and you can adjust the timing no problem. Will take half a day.

Since you didn't give me the year or engine specifications then I will explain for both types of engine. If the engine has a distributor you will set the timing with a timing light and turning the distributor. However if you have a distributor-less ignition system then you need actually set timing in the computer.

well go buy a dianostics plug for your model of car. in your ECU settiongs you should be able to adjust it

on older vehicles, the timing adjustment is under the distributor. on newer vehicles, the timing is adjusted by the oboard computer.

You can adjust the ignition timing on your car by first taking off your steering wheel. Once that is off you can get to the ignition timing right by the ignition.
