A woman can tell when she is ovulating because her body temperature is slightly higher than normal and her vaginal discharge is thicker and more opaque than other times of the month. Usually ovulation happens around two weeks after the period, so a woman should keep track of her menstruation cycles at look for these signs at this time.

First thing is you should know about your cycle like how many days cycle you have, how long it last etc. If you have regular periods, it is easy to monitor your cycle. Just note down cervical discharge, body temperature and track your periods at least for 2-3 cycle. From this chart you can calculate your time of ovulation.

If you pay attention to your vaginal secretions you tell if your ovulating. The consistancy and color of the secretion should be like eggs whites and you should be able to stretch it across a few fingers.

Ovulation is the term used for the release of the ovum (also known as egg/oocyte/female gamete) from the ovary. It is a process under menstrual cycle. The matured ovarian follicle ruptures and the ovum comes out ready for fertilization.
