A male platy and a female guppy cannot breed as both are members of a different genus of fish. Although both fish are in the root family Poecilidae, a platy is a member of the genus Xiphophorus and a guppy is of the genus Poecilia Reticulata.

You cant MAKE any kind of dog breed with another dog. the dogs will actually get nervous and fight against it if pursuaded to do so. The only way it will happen is if the female is in heat. Then it happens on its own

Well to help them breed together, you need to create an optimal breeding environment. Well first thing you want to make sure the water has been purified. Then you want them to get enough nutrients that they both require. Also the smaller tank the easier for them to breed together.

Well you can't necessary help them breed with one another. But you can make sure that the conditions that they may be able to breed in are optimal. This means that you should provide the tank that has nutrients in it. Also, make sure the water is clean and has enough chlorine.

Fish of different fish families will not breed. So your male platy and female guppy will just ignore each other and will not breed. You can keep breeding pairs of both fish in the same tank, but you will get only platy fish or guppy fish, not a mix.
