How can I stop a Golden Retriever from digging holes in my yard?

My yard is all torn up and the dog will not stop. I tried everything I know to do.

My best advice is to give him an area that you do allow him to dig in. Such as, get a plastic kids pool, fill with dirt, add toys and treats and allow him to dig to his heart's content. Praise him for digging here and not your yard.

I had one thye are huge hole diggers mine also ate the corner off my new coffee table lol. If you can find something the dog doesnt like you can use it everytime you find a new hole dug its better if you catch in the act more effective.

You should take the dog to an obedience class that will teach him to listen to commands better and stop digging holes.

After refilling the hole, put some of the dog's poop on top of where the hole is. The dog will not want to dig there. Make sure your yard is draining well so that you aren't creating a muddy "diggable" yard.

I place pine cones, pine needles, and socks filled with poop in holes, mixed with cat poop. This works everytime.

This may sound a little gross, but try filling the holes with dog poop. If your dog is like mine than he/she won't want to dig up the same holes.

Give him his own designated dig area. You could also spray him with the hose every time he starts to dig.
