acetone and ethyl alcohol won't work, they are both non-polar solvents, but sucrose is a polar molecule. I tried this for a chemistry project, you can look it up if you don't trust me. same goes for butanol, methyl alcohol, etc.
Use an organic solvent like acetone or ethyl alcohol. Sugar will dissolve in this while salt will not and you can filter the salt out. The organic solution with the sugar can then be evaporated to get the sugar back.
Use the "Pick and Flick" method. "Pick" each individual grain up and dab it on your tongue. "Flick" into a separate bowl if it is sweet, because it's sugar.
