Start with watching people. What's happening besides words: tone of voice, posture, gestures? Notice how you feel and react. Then, see if an internet search finds resources to explain more.

You can actually learn a lot from TV. Bill O'Reilly is interested in body language and sometimes has several segments a week with body language expert Tonya Reiman. They analyze body language of politicians in videos, and it is very interesting and informative.

There are specialized books in this particular area, although nothing compares to first hand action - actually watching others' moves and interpreting.
