Be a good example. Explain that people resort to foul language usually because they lack education and have no access to proper words to explain their feelings, frustrations, etc. While foul language erupts now and again, it is not a hallmark of intelligent people.

Implement a cursing jar- whenever your son curses, he has to put $1 into the jar. He won't like giving away his money, so he'll stop the bad behavior.

Try giving him an incentive, like extra money for every time he doesn't use profane language. You could also take away his favorite things when he does curse.

Treat the foul language as you would any other bad behaviour. Use the same methods used to stop him making a mess or being rude.

A swear jar is an effective way to cut down on swearing. Your son would put in some money (a nickel or a dime or a quarter) every time you catch him saying a swear word. You might assign different costs to different words.

Ground him. You can make it to where he can't go hang out with his friends, play video games, watch television, or listen to the radio until he stops using foul language.

First of all, try taking him away from any environment take uses it. That includes those friends of his that use it, as well as TV and the internet. Have a swear jar for him. Reward him when he does not use foul language and give him chores he doesn't like when he uses foul language. Discipline the guy.

Sometimes that is already beyond you especially that your son is already a teenager. You can try talking to him in a nice (not reprimanding) way. Also, it would help if he does not hear you doing the same.
