How can I get my dog to stop peeing in the house?

My dog will not stop going to the bathroom in the house, how do I train him to stop?

First of all, I keep pets outdoors to avoid this (and their odour). But since you chose to keep your dog inside, you can either get him a diaper and get a training book for you. But whatever you do, don't hit him or make him live outdoors, or otherwise it will get depreesed.

A long time ago I was told to fill a soda can with coins and any time you observe your dog getting ready to eliminate you should shake it. This in turn would scare the animal and stop him from ruining your carpet. I always assumed it would scare the pee out of him.

The key is to take them outside often,as much as possible, and get them in the habit of going out there. A litter box can be useful overnight. Be patient, if your consistent the dog will learn in time.

It's actually very easy, and takes less than a week. With all due respect, ALL the other answers are incorrect. But I need more info from you. For over 35 years, I've rescued dogs that are considered un-adoptable, due to abuse and abandonment.

I put a diaper on my dog for this problem. She still pees but no longer can smell where she has peed. She will stop eventually, so I am told.
