Read, Read, Read. Go on a hike with a plant book and try to identify the plants. Your local nursey could also help.

As with anything you want to learn, you should consult information that will lead you to your goal of knowledge. Visit the library, check websites, consult an expert.

1) Google 2) Gardening and other botanical forums with knowledgeable people. 3) Field guides. 4) Lots of time spend outdoors in wild and rural areas, and along nature trails in local parks. I have also learned plants by searching for one, and accidentally finding another as well.

I would suggest that you pick up a survival manual, or a gardeners handbook. I currently use a SAS handbook for identifying plants in the field.

If you go to the library they have books for plants in your region. They have great pictures and this will help you start to learn the different plants.
