Check your state's circuit court website and see if they have an online searchable database. This would be the easiest way, otherwise there are numerous websites that will check for a fee. Lastly, you can hire a private investigator.

There are for-fee services that employers use to do credit and criminal record checks. You would have to pay rather substantial fees and have cause to do background checks in order to do one on yourself. Generally, people know the details of their own background and thus what would appear on a background check.

Companies are hired to conduct these checks, you can consult The National Association of Background Screeners website. Companies often consult the big three credit companies, and you have the right to a free yearly credit report. If you have a friend in the police, they can run a criminal check for you and see what pops up.
