Go to your local paint store and ask for some tips. Definitely get paint specifically designed for countertops. Rustoleum is a good brand to check out.

Melamine paint is the best paint. Use clear coat on top for a shiny finish. Latex paint also works but requires a poly coat over it. Be careful when using clear coat. It is not necessary and it tends to yellow over time. Use a roller and a brush for corners. You can also use sponges for texture with both.

Read the label on the paint.For counter top's the best would be a paint that claim's it's ultra durable and cleanable and non-porous finish that is heat and water proof.

I have research this topic alot. The best paint is an oil base paint. Paint is only half of your problem. You need to research the best sealer to use. This sealer needs to be food friendly, which includes meats, vegs, and fruit. The other situation that you need to research is how much heat can the countertop handle.

The best counter top paint should have the right amount of latex in it. It also depends on what kind of counter top you have. If you have marble counters then you need a special type of paint for that. You might need to use some latex paint. It will specify on the paint jar.

Rustoleum has an epoxy paint that is especially made for counter tops.It is self-priming and can be mixed into 12 different colors.

Depends on what the counter-top will be used for? Generally, Acrylic enamels (often oil-based) paints are the most-durable. Heavy-abuse or temperature-extremes "chips" acrylics/enamels. Latex paints tend to dust/flake-off.

You will want paint that is exceedingly durable, an epoxy based paint would probably be best. Even with an epoxy paint, you may have too much wear and tear in such a well used spot, damaging the paint. Why not do a mosaic tile over the old counter? Much more fun and durable too.
