How accurate are EPT tests?

The accuracy rate depends on how long you wait to take the test. You should also use first morning urine, when hormone levels are highest in the urine sample. If you wait 14 days after ovulation, the tests are close to 100% accurate. You can get a positive result up to 5 days before your missed period with 60% accuracy.

EPT and other home pregnancy tests have improved so much over the last decade that they are considered very accurate (98% or higher).

That depends on if you have a positive or negative result. False positive results are extremely rare--if you get a positive result on an EPT, you can be over 99% certain you are pregnant. However, if you get a negative result, you still could be pregnant but it is too early to get a positive result.

They are very accurate assuming you take them at the right time. Pregnancy tests generally cannot be taken until between ten and fourteen days after you ovulate. At that point, there is enough of the HCG hormone to be detected in your body. If you take it too early, you won't be able to tell.
