Since bathrooms are humid you'll want to use mortar as opposed to adhesive and make sure to apply seam tape between boards.

One of the most important steps in installation is preparation. I ensure that all surfaces are protected, whether this means tarps or blankets. I make sure i don't create any additional problems outside of the task at hand. Also, its advisable to wear gloves for this work, as handling the board can be strenuous.

Well you want some waterproof glue. Also you need a sharp knife and some nails. This is a complex DIY job. Apply the Durock cement just like any normal drywall. Once put in, you use the waterproof glue to seal the segments in place. Then use the nails to keep it secure.

If there are pre-drilled holes in locations that work for your project, use them then cover the screw heads with a small amount of silicone to seal them . Otherwise, simply glue the board in place with waterproof glue.

First off i would make sure you have the proper tools. A sharp utility knife, tape measure, nails and a hammer would be helpful. When cutting the durock a sharp knife works better than a saw. When you hang the piece use nails because screws tend not to work as well.

You need to know that water can penetrate the cement board. You probably want to put in a water barrier behind the board.

Durock cementboard is just like using regualar drywall, the same installation rules apply except that it will resist the dampness of the bathroom enviroment.

If installing Durock cement board in a "wet" environment in your bathroom, such as your shower, use a material such as felt in between the studs and cement board.
