Beta fish are aggressive fish that fight with all other fish. They are best kept in isolation and not paired with another fish. Placing a beta with another kind of fish will most likely result in death of one of the two fish.

Betas are actually only aggressive when there are two male betas. They are only semi-aggressive, and can be put in the same tank with pretty much any fish. But, becareful. Even a goldfish can kill a beta.

Betas are also known as "fighting fish" and are generally not compatible with other fish. They should be kept in their own tank.

Neon tetras and guppies are great tank mates for Betta's. Also try Plecos, cory cats and White Cloud Minnows. You want to avoid fish the Betta can beat up on or other male Betta's. Also avoid fish that may swim faster and nip at his fins like Angel fish and large goldfish.
