Well, no it does not rot if its dry. But if it gets wet, you can expect it to rot as well. Logs usually rot in the rain. Cool temperatures can also strip the wood of its moisture and causing it to rot in the long run. Therefore, temperature is key.

Yes wood can still rot even if it is dry, depending on the storing conditions.Because it is an organic material it can be attacked by bacterias and fungus which can destroy its structure, unless treated against fungus or stored in relative low humidity conditions.

Wood rots because it is wet and infected by a fungus that breaks down the wood fibers. Once the wood is infected with the fungus, the ambient humidity in the air will provide enough moisture for the fungus to continue growing, even after the wood has dried out. It is better if the wood is never infected.

The wood that is thoroughly dried will not rot.The main cause of wood rot is Water and Moisture. Dry rot occurs when wood comes in constant contact with water or moisture. This exposure allows fungus to grow and to weaken the structure of the wood;left unchecked, the wood will begin to deteriorate.

Wood is a natural material just like any other wood product. Unless it is kept dry or if it is kept in ideal conditions and environment, it will rot. If the wood is protected from moisture, more than likely it will not rot at any great speed and can last for many years.

Wood no matter what chemicals have been put on it to make it last will naturally rot and eventually become dust. Chemicals that are put on wood are not designed to make the treated wood last forever but rather simply lengthen the time frame of the wood to stay in better shape.

Brown/"dry"/fungi-wood-rot occurs between 20% & 90% wood-moisture-content and -5C/23F to 40C/104F. Kiln-drying-wood yields 5% to 25% wood-moisture-content, Environmental-conditions can dry-out or moisten wood. Dry-rot-treatments are chemical-fungicides or controlling-moisture/temperature.

While wood only rots when its wet, it still decomposes no matter what. Like everything on this beautiful Earth, wood goes away with time regardless of whether or not it is dry.

No. Unless kept dry and in the right environment, wood, being a natural material, eventually decays. How long it takes and how badly it rots depends on a lot of factors. The first factor is the type of wood, and most important, whether or how the wood is protected from moisture.
